Baltic University Programme Student Conference, Borki, Poland 20-24 April, 2005


1. GENERAL
The Baltic University Programme will arrange this years students conference in Borki, Poland on April 20-24. It will be the seventh time in row when we will have the students conference in the same place and we are very grateful to Prof. Ireneusz Zbicinski and his students for helping us with organizing of the conference even this year. With this letter we have the pleasure to invite students from all universities in the network to apply for participation and wish you welcome to Borki.

Place and time:
The conference will take place in Borki (a small village 50 km outside Lodz) in Poland. The Technical University of Lodz will serve as hosting institution with Prof. Ireneusz Zbicinski from the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering as main organizer. The conference will start on Wednesday 20 of April at 17.00 and end on Sunday 24 of April at 10.00. Wednesday and Sunday are thus travelling days.

2. SELECTION OF PARTICIPATING STUDENTS
The national BUP centers will be responsible for selecting participants. We will have place for 75 students. Students who studied any of our four courses are welcome although those who took more then one of the Baltic University courses have priority. Participating students are kindly asked to plan to stay the whole period. (Students who helped at the courses or otherwise should be gratified may be considered to have priority!) Teachers of BUP courses are asked to choose students, list them according to priority and send the list to their national center.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!Please remember that we need to have an e-mail addresses to every student!!!!!!

The centers will compile a list according to the students activity within the Programme and deliver it to the BUP secretariat for a final selection of student candidates for the conference. We expect the participants lists at the secretariat in Uppsala not later then March 16.

The 75 student places have been distributed among countries as follows (some extra places are left for students from Lodz):

  • Finland - 4
  • NW Russia (St Pb Centre) - 7
  • Belarus - 14
  • Lithuania - 3
  • Sweden - 5
  • Germany - 3
  • Slovakia + Czech Rep. - 3
    If a country does not fill up its places they will be divided among the others.

    Costs for participation
    The Baltic University Programme will cover budget travel cost (all kinds of transportation allowed except air!) and all expenses for the participants during their visit in Borki in connection with the conference. Students from Sweden, Finland and Denmark are asked to contact Maria Winkler to discuss their travel to Poland.
