2. Baltic University Programme Teachers' Seminar On Sustainable Community Development And Urban Planning In Gdansk / Starbienino (25.01- 29.01.2002)

 

To the seminar we invite teachers who plan to teach and/or organize this new course at their universities.  
The Sustainable Community Development and Urban Planning (SCD) course is master level, post-graduate course, which was run in a pilot version during the academic year 2000/01. Five universities took part in the development of the course: Technical University of Hamburg, - Latvian University of Agriculture, Kaunas University of Technology, Technical University of Gdansk and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
The course focuses on sustainable community development, and urban planning with special emphasis on the conditions in the Baltic Sea region. The course covers both social science, architectural and cultural aspects of community development and intends to convey practical knowledge. The course consists of three parts (or themes), which may be offered independently. The seminar will cover these three parts of the course:
Theme I. The city and basic patterns of sustainability
Theme II. Building sustainable communities
Theme III. Sustainable community management

This seminar will take place in Starbienino, some 80 km south of Gdansk You can register for this seminar at your national BUP-centre. Please find the seminar programme at our webpage.

 


3. SENSORIAL GARDEN PROJECT

Invitation for studying Hällefors "Municipality in change" - December 16-21, 2001.
The Environmental Department of Hällefors Municipality invites students from the Technical University of Gdansk for a five-day study visit to Sweden. Roland Gustavsson and Iveta Lacauniece are co-ordinating the projects "Sensorial Gardens", in which universities from the region are already participating. The strategies for developing new areas in the municipality will be discussed and students' proposals and projects are expected to be the result of the action.
